I go to Pride, because I am happy and proud to stand for equal rights and love.
As Bulgarians, we have to realize that the time is to take a critical look at ourselves and to question how and where we are allowing hate to exist in our country. Not speaking out against inequality, is like saying that you are somehow OK with that.
We need to set examples and create and advocate safe spaces for our LGBTI friends and family. It’s our responsibility to convey, that it is ok to be who you are and it is essential to demand equal rights for everyone.
That is why I will be there on 9th June again. Because Pride matters. Because it matters to many LGBTI people on an individual level, it matters to their families and friends and it matters to Bulgaria as a democratic and free country.
